6-Sid Meier’s Civilization V

Sid Meier's Civilization V

Sid Meier's Civilization V is a 4X video game in the Civilization series developed by Firaxis Games, released on Microsoft Windows in September 2010, OS X on November 23, 2010, and Linux/SteamOS on June 10, 2014.

In Civilization V, the player leads a civilization from prehistoric times into the future on a procedurally generated map, achieving one of a number of different victory conditions through research, exploration, diplomacy, expansion, economic development, government and military conquest. The game is based on an entirely new game engine with hexagonal tiles instead of the square tiles of earlier games in the series. Many elements from Civilization IV and its expansion packs have been removed or changed, such as religion and espionage (although these were reintroduced in its subsequent expansion). The combat system has been overhauled, removing stacking of military units and enabling cities to defend themselves by firing directly on nearby enemies. In addition, the maps contain computer-controlled city-states as non-player characters that are available for trade, diplomacy and conquest. A civilization's borders also expand one tile at a time, favoring more productive tiles, and roads now have a maintenance cost, making them much less common. The game features community, modding, and multiplayer elements.
Its first expansion pack, Civilization V: Gods & Kings, was released on June 19, 2012 in North America and June 22 internationally. It includes features such as religion, espionage, enhanced naval combat and combat AI, as well as nine new civilizations.
A second expansion pack, Civilization V: Brave New World, was announced on March 15, 2013. It includes features such as international trade routes, a world congress, tourism, great works, as well as nine new civilizations and eight additional wonders. It was released on July 9, 2013 in North America and on July 12, 2013 in the rest of the world

5-Total War: Shogun 2

Total War: Shogun 2

is a strategy video game developed by The Creative Assembly and published by Sega. It is part of the Total War series and returns to the 16th-century Japan setting of the first Total War game, Shogun: Total War, after a series of games set mainly in Europe.

Shogun 2 is set in 16th-century feudal Japan, in the aftermath of the Ōnin War during the Ashikaga Shogunate. The country is fractured into rival clans led by local warlords, each fighting for control. The player takes on the management of one of these clans, with the goal of dominating other factions and claiming his rule over Japan. The standard edition of the game features a total of eight factions (plus a ninth faction for the tutorial), each with a unique starting position and different political and military strengths. The limited edition includes an exclusive ninja clan, the Hattori, and a DLC unlocks a tenth clan, the Ikko-Ikki
The game moves away from the European setting of previous Total War games and returns to the first setting in the Total War series, but making significant changes to core gameplay elements of Shogun 2. Compared to Empire which spanned almost the entire globe, the new installment focuses only on the islands of Japan (excluding Hokkaido) and on a reduced number of unit types
Shogun 2 was released on 15 March 2011 and received critical praise from reviewers, often for its simplification and refinement of the series by returning to its roots. A standalone expansion set Total War: Shogun 2: Fall of the Samurai was released in 2012.

On 31 July 2014, Shogun 2 was released for OS X by Feral Interactive, along with the Total War: SHOGUN 2 Collection, which includes all previously released additional content except "Blood Pack"

4-Europa Universalis IV

Europa Universalis IV

Europa Universalis exists in a finite timeline, starting on the 11th of November, 1444 and ending on the 2nd of January, 1821. A player may choose any starting point between these two dates and begin a campaign as any country existing in the world at the time.

The entirety of the geography of Earth is represented and able to be owned, conquered, and colonized - with the exception of regions considered as largely uninhabitable wastelands as is the case with certain vast desert regions in the Middle East, and harsh arctic lands in Siberia.

While players may choose any custom date that they desire, the game features bookmarked starting points with the intention of having the gameplay replicate some of the most dramatic events in human history. Instances of bookmarks are the Discovery of the New World, the European Wars of Religion, and the French Revolution and subsequent reign of Napoleon.

The game is, in short, an interactive world history simulator focusing on the time lapse between the Renaissance and the Napoleonic Era.

While some historical events like the Dutch Revolt or the Protestant Reformation are mandated to occur during gameplay, there is no set course and thus each play through can result in a different outcome
